Semaglutide

What it is
A GLP-1 receptor agonist that mimics the incretin hormone GLP-1, slowing gastric emptying and increasing satiety.
Used for
Commonly used for appetite suppression and body-composition goals. Dosing is titrated upward slowly over weeks to limit GI side effects.
Half-life
~7 days (once-weekly dosing)
Handling
Reconstituted vials are kept refrigerated; protect from light and avoid shaking.
Watch for
GI upset (nausea) is the most common complaint, usually worst right after a dose increase. Titrate slowly.
